Posted By: junmar

Hummingbirds are the dynamos of the nature of the adorable. I see these tiny birds because it back to my yard each spring. Hummingbirds are found only in the Americas, including the Caribbean, but do not cover the territory of southern Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in Argentina. Most species are found in Central and South America. However, Anna ‘s living all year in coastal Pacific Hummingbird. The Ruby-throated  migrates every spring. Fly nonstop across the Gulf of Mexico to begin their migration north through the United States and Canada. Black-chinned Hummingbird is the most widespread in the western United States and the Rufous Hummingbird is the most common  found in western Canada. There are over 300 species of hummingbirds in the world.

Attract hummingbirds to your garden

Power: hummingbirds eat flower nectar or sugar water to give them energy to maintain their metabolic rate high. Protein and other nutrients they eat soft-bodied insects and spiders. When selecting a  feeder should be easy to dismantle and clean, because hummingbirds do not eat the bitter sugar water / nectar. The charger should be rinsed thoroughly with warm water every time you recharge once a month and clean the tray with a bleach solution 1 / 4 cup per gallon of water. Allow the charger to soak for 1 hour and then rinse thoroughly and refill. In general, sugar water will not last more than 4 days before departure that they must be replaced.

Feeders also perches. While it is fun to watch the hummingbirds hovering, hovering uses a lot of energy – something hummingbirds simply can not lose. Hangers allowed to rest and stay longer for food.

A built-in ant moat in your diet will help you control the ants that feed. Fill the gap of ants with water and some small birds like chickadees to drink in a ditch with ants.

No need to buy special mix  nectar. Mix 1 cup sugar 4 cups water, heat until sugar is dissolved, let cool and pour it into the charger. Use only white sugar, because sugar can harm hummingbirds. Do not add red food coloring to water and sugar, which can harm hummingbirds.

You can also plant flowers deep throat, especially in the red. Always a pleasure to sit in my porch and watch the hummingbirds enjoy the winged angel begonias outside the windows.

Water: Hummingbirds need to bathe regularly because of the flower nectar or sugar water makes it difficult sticky preening. They like a bird bath with very shallow water or a fountain flowing with an increase of spraying. Hummingbirds gently off the edge and spraying. Once I was watering the plants and a hummer in and out of the mist. I almost drowned the plant, because I was so fascinated by the hummingbirds.

Hummingbirds are fun and a great addition to any garden. Treat them well and will be around for a long time. Hummingbirds often return to the same place they found food last year. Give them fresh nectar, attractive flowers and sprinklers and hummingbirds have, year after year.
